Yoikes! Another Fannish Wedding!
"Dork Knight" creator Dan Lopez, BayCon's Artists' Alley supervisor and Helen Anderson were wed Saturday evening here at BayCon, exactly one year after they met while working on last years' BayCon. Members of the wedding party included Thena MacArthur as Best Man, David Wong as Maid of Honor, and Peter and Philip Temple as the flower girls. Instead of the standard wedding processional music, attendees of the ceremony sang the Bugs Bunny theme ("Overture / Curtain, lights..."). The wedding was officiated
by Brin-Marie McLaughlin. When you stop by Artists' Alley, be sure to congratulate the newlyweds.
Future Chair Report
Lamont and Mitzi Jones, former Bay Area convention staff regulars, report that Bonnie Grace Jones (9 lb 1 oz, 20.5 in) was born in the wee hours of the morning May 11th. Everybody is recovering nicely. Bonnie is Winona's vice chair for Ft. Collins in 2011, ala Winona-Con. Presupporting memberships are US $5.00, and can be sent to: Lamont Jones, 749 S Lemay Ave #A3-227, Ft. Collins, CO 80524-3251. Monies not used by the parties will be put in their college funds.

'Drive-in' at the Pool
Saturday night's showing of Plan 9 From Outer Space was attended by an enthusiastic crowd of fans, despite fierce competition by the Tully Party (among others). Tonight from 9 pm - 11 pm, Warner Brothers cartoons will be shown on the wall above the jacuzzi in the pool area of the Red Lion Inn. Plan to drop by!
Other Suns Preview Available
Lisa Iennaco, the publisher/editor/typographer/contributor and future illustrator for the 2nd edition of Other Suns is attending BayCon. Other Suns (by Nicolai Shapiro) is the reissue of a popular science-fiction furry role-playing game that originally appeared in 1982. Lisa says, "We are currently in negotiations with Larry Dixon for a color cover for the reprint. Other illustrators will include Ken Sample and Reed Waller."
Lisa admits that the fannish enthusiasm of certain players of the game drove her to bring the text (only) version of the game to BayCon, because she "couldn't stand the begging any more." She goes on to say, "The text-only version is 210 pages - almost twice the size of the first edition. After we include the art, we're guessing it'll top 300 pages."
Lisa can be found wandering around the convention (identifiable by her ermine tail) and the Other Suns books can be found at the Yarf! People table (or in the Furry Party in room 350-352).
Ouch!
Have you been thinking of getting something other than your ears pierced lately? Come to the Body Piercing BOF insanely late on Sunday in the Cedar room, and find out some important facts before you decide to pierce those body parts. Vaughn from Body Manipulations in San Francisco will be there to answer your questions. Stop on by after the Lure of Dark Erotica panel, well, fish hooks usually are attached to lures, but sometimes they are used for the piercing of flesh.
Bits and Pieces
"I see an open door to the Dealers Room. I must spend money!"
A drawing will be held for 9 decks of Jyhad cards (for a single winner) at 5:30 pm today at the Wizards of the Coast table in Dealers Room. The winner's name will be posted there
. "Today is a leather and latex day. Tomorrow I'll be down to spandex," commented Valia Derekin
. Mommy Mouse is mad at BayCon staff members who are not eating properly and her goon squad is out looking for you. Report to Hospitality and all is forgiven.
"I just want to get my name in the newsletter. I don't care how!" So this one's for you, Corey Rosen.
"Hey, if you don't start thinking now it'll still be Saturday night."
Red Wolf observed, "There's a definite lack of Pepsi at the Registration Desk."
When is the Red Lion going to get it through their heads that the only way they can make money during BayCon in the Quiet Bar is for it to live up to it's name?
From Nastigrad, "What do I want? World peace ... and then a great-looking redhead.
" The two teachers who run the 'Sparklies' table in the Dealers Room have found a sneaky way to make learning more fun. If a school-aged fan (of up to 12th grade) promises to do 15 minutes of academic work (reading or writing), they can get 1 FREE Pog from 'Sparklies' for each grade level they are in. This gets 'Sparklies' a 3-star review!
Button seen in Dealers Room: "The Duct Tape is Strong with this one."
