Each year BayCon selects a recipient for our charity drive that we feel has a direct impact on our local community. This year we selected Bay Area Literacy - an organization that works through our public libraries to help adults with reading deficiencies. Bay Area Literacy began in 1984, providing help with reading and writing for adults who read below an eighth grade level.

Bay Area Literacy also has a Families for Literacy component, which provides special family story times, free quality books, and parent education materials.

This organization helps adults to be better prepared to deal with everyday aspects of life that would otherwise prove more challenging, as well as entire families.
