CHARITY AUCTION |

Each year Baycon selects a recipient for our charity drive that we feel
has a direct impact on our local community. Last year we selected the
Friends of the California Air &
Space Center and were able to raise $4,478.
This year we are looking at Electronic
Frontier Foundation, or EFF, for our charity.
EFF's mission is to preserve free expression by upholding rights to
digital free expression from political, legal and technical threats, to
help define digital privacy and empower people to maintain their privacy
and control their digital identify, and to ensure computer systems are
designed to respect people's rights, such as free speech, privacy and
fair use.
So far, donations for the auction are coming from:

BLOOD DRIVE |

|
For many years running BayCon has held a Blood Drive. This year is no different as we uphold this humanitarian tradition.
Last year, as usual, the blood collected during BayCon was used up in less than
one week, in the following ways:
| O+ Men | Chronic Heart failure, motor vehicle accident, gun shot wound and two liver transplants |
| A+ Men | 3 heart transplants, a coronary artery bypass, bicycle accident and liver transplant |
| B+ Men | pneumonia, gun shot wound and liver transplant |
| A- Men | brain cancer and coronary artery bypass graft |
| AB+ Man | liver transplant |
| O+ Women | leukemia, heart lung transplant and aortic aneurysm |
| A+ Women | ovarian cancer, kidney transplant, coronary artery bypass graft, hip replacement followed by infection, spinal surgery and liver disease |
| B+ baby boy | heart transplant |
| O+ baby girl | liver transplant |
| O- baby girl | severe anemia at 4 days and 1 day old respiratory distress syndrome |
| AB+ girl | spinal surgery |
| All types | 18 premies |
As you can see, your blood donation can help many people.
This year's Blood Drive will be held in the Stanford Bloodmobile outside the lobby on Saturday from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
