2001: baycon's odd-i-see

SUNDAY DANCE
Are you looking for true love? Perhaps a miracle? If so, stop by our Sunday night dance where we will feature the Princess Bride. Dance the night away while looking for your prince or princess. Try not to get lost in the fire swamp. Oh and yeah, miracle pills will be available for those most in need, for a price of course. Dress in your favorite period or renaissance costume or just come as the Dread Pirate Roberts. But remember to behave or we'll set the brute squad after you!

If you'd like to make any suggestions or requests for music, e-mail Gary at dj@baycon.org.

REGENCY DANCE
In a Baycon tradition, Alan Winston will lead Regency dancing. The English Regency (strictly 1811-1820) the era of Austen Byron, Shelley, Nelson, Wellington; the setting of Georgette Heyer and Patrick O’Brian novels, and Bernard Cornwell’s Sharpe series, the age of Napoleon - country dance was the ballroom dance of the time.

One of the piquant pleasures of Regency dancing at the convention is watching the dancers and their costumes. In addition to the many people in t-shirts and jeans, you’ll see Miss Elizabeth Bennet waltzing with Darth Vader, and Fitzwilliam Darcy with Commander Ivanova.

Even if you have never danced before with Allan Winston’s friendly, clear instruction you will soon be dancing the night away. You needn’t bring a partner - we’ll swap around after every dance. So you have no excuse come try something new.
