Hello from the programming staff of BayCon 2001. We are hard at work lining up the guest list and coming up with panel ideas. If you have any suggestions for guests you would like to see at BayCon 2001, Please e-mail programming@baycon.org with the guests' name and any contact info you can find for them (even if it's just the name of their representation, or the city they live in)
On the subject of panel topics: This Year we'd like to try something new and fun for all. We are going to have two Member's Choice panels, the topics of which will be chosen by you, and the panelists will be chosen by the guests.
Your challenge is to send in panel topic ideas to programming@baycon.org with the subject line of
"Member's choice".
The deadline for these will be February 1st, 2001.
Panel topics received will be refined (meaning if we get 3 or 4 suggestions that are essentially the same, they will be consolidated into one) and the topics will be posted to the website and listed in the PR for voting.
The deadline for voting will be May 1st, 2001.
The two panel topics with the most votes will be presented to the guests for a vote on who should be the panelists.
The results will remain a secret until BayCon, when they will be announced in plenty of time for you to plan to see them.
So get those panel ideas coming, you can submit as many panel topics as you like, but please only vote once.
(By the way when you vote you must be a member of the convention, or your vote will not be counted. You can suggest topics any time, even before you buy your membership.)
Thank you for your input,
Amy-Elyse Patterson

FAMILY FRIENDLY PROGRAMMING |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
Fandom is aging, and with the wisdom of the passing years comes the joys
of bringing new life into the world. And then they turn two. Are you
looking for a way to share the experience of a con with your children?
Have you ever bemoaned the lack of common ground for you to share with
the youngest in your clan? We have felt this lack as well, and thus,
Family Friendly Programming is born.
This year, BayCon is presenting Family Friendly Programming,
where parents and children can come together; for storytime, arts and
crafts, music, and maybe just a little crazy fun. (Heck, we've got
kids, too!) We will be welcoming and trying to provide interesting
diversions for the little ones, the Kids-In-Tow, and Youths (to go by
the badge classifications).
This comes with a few caveats, however, that hopefully won't put a
damper on the fun parts:
This is FAMILY FRIENDLY Programming, and as such, parents or other
responsible individuals are required to attend with any child wearing a
kid in tow badge.
Due to the many reasons BayCon cannot provide a babysitting service, or
be responsible for the care of anyone's children, if a child is left
without a responsible person, he or she will be turned over to HOTEL
Security.
We don't want to sound like ogres, but we do want to assure a fun and
safe time for everyone.
