Once again, BayCon is proud to be hosting a series of charity events. In keeping with our theme for 2008, we have chosen a nautical charity: the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association.

For more than 50 years, the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association has worked to bring maritime history to life for visitors to the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to operating a museum, visitor center, and research library, they also maintain numerous historic vessels, including the tall ship Balclutha, and a World War II submarine, the USS Pampanito, which has been designated a National Historic Landmark.

Charity Casino

Friday Night 9:00 PM — Ballrooms E & F

Following the Meet the Guests Reception, there will be a Charity Casino to benefit the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association. Come try your luck at craps, roulette, poker, blackjack, or dominoes and help preserve our nautical history. $5 gets you $25 in chips, $20 gets you $125 of chips. Drawings for prizes will be done throughout the night, so dig out your doubloons and double down for charity.

Guests under the age of 18 may not participate in the casino without a parent or legal guardian accompanying them.

Due to space limitations, we request that strollers be left outside the Charity Casino.

Charity Auction

Saturday 2:30 PM in the Lafayette/San Tomas/Lawrence Room

Sunday 1:00 PM in the Cypress Room

Each year BayCon holds a charity auction to raise money for the chosen charity. This year our charity is the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association.

Come and bid on a bevy of booty "liberated" from the farthest reaches of the galaxy in what is sure to be an intergalactic bazaar bonanza. The items in the auctions have been "generously donated" by several community businesses, individuals, and scalawags that have been "asked" to help us in our cause. There will be two auctions to give more people a greater chance to score some of the precious loot we have "found." The items auctioned each day will be different. Be sure to stop by on Saturday and Sunday and bid for a good cause. All items will be available for perusal before each auction so you can decide what you'd like to bid on. Remember, bid high and bid often.

If you wish to donate an item to be included in the Charity Auction, please take it to Con Ops (in the Napa II Room) with clear instructions that it is to be used for the Charity Auction.
